When you make a donation to Caleb's Courage - know that you are helping support sick children in Cape Breton, as well as, Caleb's family; his parents, Mike and Nicole, and siblings, Ella, Aubreigh, Emery and Lachlan.
Caleb's family has decided to honor his brave and courageous spirit by giving back to the community in a big way. Nicole, Caleb's mom says that before embarking on this past year's journey with her son, she was not engaged in what was happening within the walls of the hospital, much like many other parents who are living day-to-day, raising their families.
Because they witnessed first hand, the love, care and true compassion of the staff at the healthcare facilities where Caleb was treated, the MacArthur family wants to give back.
The MacArthur's have set a goal to support what they call, "our home hospital," the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. The family agrees that having Caleb at home during his last days was a gift to their entire family and to Caleb - as he was surrounded by those who loved him the most as he soared to heaven.
Through donations raised, they will be totally renovating the Palliative Care Pediatrics Room, where Caleb spent many days. Along with this wonderful gift to other Cape Breton families who will use this room, they are setting up a fund in Caleb's name to ensure that children in Cape Breton, who are treated in the Pediatrics Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital will be cared for, for many years to come.
